The fastest early game progression is: buy Cursors first until each costs more than a Grandma, then shift entirely to Grandmas until you can afford a Farm. Grandmas have the best early-game cookies-per-second value per cost. Don't spread purchases across multiple building types early — concentrate on one at a time.
Always buy upgrades immediately when available — they multiply all production from existing buildings. A 2x multiplier upgrade for Grandmas produces far more value than buying one more Grandma with the same cookies. Pause building purchases when an upgrade is within reach.
Golden Cookies provide temporary multipliers of 7x or more. Click them immediately when they appear — never let them expire. The Frenzy buff (7x production for 77 seconds) combined with a Building Special (x50 production briefly) creates enormous burst production. Save your Click Frenzy for these combination windows.
Prestige (ascending) resets your cookies but gives permanent multipliers through Heavenly Chips. Don't ascend too early. First ascension should be around 1 quadrillion baked cookies total to get meaningful Heavenly Chips. The Lucky Day and Serendipity prestige upgrades should be priorities in your first ascension.
Sugar Lumps unlock after reaching 1 billion cookies. Spend them on leveling up the Wizard Tower first (unlocks Grimoire spells), then the Temple (unlocks Pantheon), then Farms (Fertilizer upgrade). These provide the largest production multiplier returns per Sugar Lump spent.
