Reach 2048 and beyond with corner strategy and merge sequencing.
Pick one corner and make it your highest tile's home. Never move the highest tile away from that corner under any circumstances. If your highest tile is bottom-right, use only right and down moves unless absolutely necessary. Breaking this rule is how almost every game is lost.
Keep tiles in descending value order along the edge adjacent to your corner: corner=highest, next tile=half that value, then half again. Example: 2048, 1024, 512, 256 along the bottom row. This pattern allows continuous merging without disruption.
Upward moves (away from your corner row) disrupt the sequence by moving tiles to unfavorable positions. Use up moves only when all three other directions are blocked. Train yourself to evaluate the up-move consequences before executing.
Always merge tiles toward your corner, not away from it. If your sequence runs left-to-right with the high tile on the right, right-moves merge correctly while left-moves pull tiles away from your established sequence.
Reaching 4096 uses identical strategy to 2048 but requires maintaining the sequence longer. The critical moment is when the board fills — you'll need a 4096 setup where you can merge 2048+2048. Players who reach 2048 can reach 4096 — it's the same skills applied consistently longer.
